We all know wireless plans can be pricey. And with so many different cell phone carriers promising the best monthly rates, the widest network, and the most value for your dollar, it can be a challenge to decide which plan is right for you and your family.

The good news? Many of the big-name carriers—including Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T—offer significant discounts for veterans and military families. We’ve put together a list of some of the top contenders.

Sprint

Benefits: For savings on wireless service and other military-aimed benefits, Sprint is tough to beat. Veterans and members of the United States Armed Forces (including National Guard and Reserve members) can save 50% on family wireless plans thanks to the Sprint Works℠ program. Other advantages of the program include:

  • Services and equipment for those experiencing hearing loss is provided through Sprint CapTel.
  • The Deployed Military Program lets customers remain on their original service plan and keep their phone number for up to 36 months.
  • Assurance Wireless (one of Sprint’s no-contract brands) offers a Lifeline Assistance program for veterans facing financial hardships,

Sprint will also donate $10 to the Fisher House Foundation for each new veteran or military account.

Notable perk: Sprint is currently offering veterans and active military personnel up to $650 per line (via prepaid Mastercard) to cover their transition fees if they make the switch to Sprint from another carrier.

Verizon

Benefits: With Verizon, veterans and military families can choose from several different unlimited plans and spend as little as $30 per month for a single line. The carrier also offers a 15% discount on your monthly bill ($34.99 or higher) as well as 25% off select accessories purchased through your My Verizon account and 10% off in stores. Note: Verizon recently updated their military discount program, so be sure to click here for a full list of FAQs about what they offer and who is eligible.

Notable perk: Veterans and military callers are bumped to the front of the queue when dialing customer service from their wireless number. If deployed, active-duty personnel have the option to suspend their service until they come home.

T-Mobile

Benefits: T-Mobile offers two plans for veterans and active-duty servicemembers. The first is the Magenta® Military plan, which provides four lines at $100 per month ($25/line) when you set up AutoPay, and the second is the Magenta® Military Plus plan, which provides four lines at $140 per month, plus HD streaming, 17 more gigs of 4G LTE mobile hotspot data, unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi, and more. You can compare the two plans here.

Notable perk: Veterans can download the T-Mobile Tuesdays app to get free items (including doughnuts and tacos—and who doesn’t like doughnuts and tacos?) as well as special deals on event tickets, gas, movie rentals, and more.

AT&T

Benefits: Veterans, active military, and eligible family members enjoy 25% off wireless service on the &More℠ and &More℠ Premium plans. Additional benefits include $15 off per month for select video services, including DIRECTV or DIRECTV NOW, and $15 off per month for select AT&T internet services.

Notable perk: There are no limits on the number of discounted lines that can be added to an AT&T military wireless account.
