The NPRC is the only location that can emboss a copy of a DD214 with a certified seal, and this is only performed as a courtesy. That said, if you have been told by a funeral director, VA cemetery, or someone else that they require a certified DD214 for a veteran burial, either they have been misinformed or they are wittingly providing false information. Don't be afraid to let them know they are incorrect.
